Murray McDavid Mission Gold - MORTLACH 19YO Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Limited Release, 238 bottles
In 1823, Mortlach was the first licensed distillery in Dufftown and was built around the abbey which gives it its name. They distill a complicated 2.81 times which creates their signature robust and fruity expression.
Mortlach is matured for nineteen years in a refill bourbon cask, which slowly adds complexity to the character of this unique Spyside whisky. It is further matured for two months in a European oak cask that had held Chateaux Talbot's famous Bordeaux Cru-classified red wine. The French red wine barrique was chosen especially by Murray McDavid's Whisky Creations Team to add fresh fruit flavours to this rich, full-bodied malt whisky.

Distillery Notes
At Murray McDavid, we understand the importance of maturation in the making of whisky. Using our many years of experience and the best oak casks from around the world, we create diverse styles of inspired Scotch whisky.
Our Whisky Creations Team travel the world in search of good wood. We select sherry casks from the bodegas of Spain, fortified wine casks from Madeira, port pipes from Portugal and a wide selection of wine barriques from Europe’s finest vineyards. We also seek out American oak barrels from bourbon makers in the United States and rum casks from distilleries in the Caribbean. We have exclusive wood supply agreements with our cask suppliers, such as the Koval Distillery in Chicago and the Murça wine cooperative in Portugal.
It’s our emphasis on getting the best casks and practising the Art of Maturation that makes Murray McDavid’s whiskies truly special.
