Blackadder was established in 1995 by Robin Tucek who runs the family business with his daughter Hannah and son Michael. Blackadder International gets its name from fugitive 17th-century preacher, John Blackadder. He is famous for preaching against the evils of alcohol.
Hannah Tucek states that the Blackadder International company will always be family-run. Each of the three owner-operators bring something unique to the table. Founder Robin is famous in the whisky world as the co-author with John Lamond of one of the most respected books about malt whisky- The Malt Whisky File. Michael Tucek used to be a chef. He uses his familiarity with a wide range of aromas and flavors to write all tasting notes. Michael feels that “our sense of smell is the most direct sense to our brain and also our most complex. It’s proven that once you go over three aroma compounds mixed together, everything is subjective and becomes very personal. Every aroma can evoke a different memory in each of us and we build up our aroma library as we grow. By not being afraid to say what we sense and share it, we can all learn something from each other.” Like Michael, Hannah grew up around whisky and has come to appreciate whisky at its pure state. Her father and brother joke that she is the one that’s really in charge.

This whisky is from a Vatting of casks of Single Malt Whisky. It has been finished in an Oloroso Sherry Butt - bottled without chill-filtration and there is no added color.
Black snake starts its life in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks. We then put three of them into new Oloroso or PX Butts and leave them for about a year for further maturation before bottling two-thirds of each cask. We call these casks 'Vats' as they are a kind of mini Solera.
After each bottling, we add two more ex-Bourbon casks, always of the same whisky, and leave for around a year before again bottling two-thirds of the Vat. All future bottlings from each vatting of Black Snake will therefore contain some spirit that was in the previous expressions from the Butt. From time to time the Butt is renewed.
Each time we bottle we call it Venom, as in the poison from a snake's bite. The first bottling from each Vat is called First Venom, and the second bottling is called Second Venom, and so on.

Blackaddder INVERGORDON Statement, Edition #46, is a very rare 34 year old single grain scotch whisky. There are only 269 bottles worldwide. Invergordon is a grain distillery situated north of Inverness on the Cormarty Firth. The absolutely massive distillery produces upwards of 40 million liters of pure alcohol per year thanks to their massive column still.

The casks we reserve for Blackadder Statement are selected first and foremost for their excellent quality. A truly noble cask of single malt whisky is not just a matter of age and maturity. This exclusive Blackadder International Selection comes with a certificate listing the individual bottle number. There are only 18 bottles available in the USA, and 150 bottles worldwide.

Distillation uses a SIER continuous column still which dates from the year of the company’s foundation. This Armagnac was matured in a new Gascon Oak cask, produced by the local cooper Batholomo.
Also known as the Gayrosse estate, Chateau Garreau’s vineyard extends over 26 hectares, straddling the departments of Landes and Gers. Its location, at the heart of Bas Armagnac, near the magnificent medieval city (thirteenth century) of Labastide d’Armagnac, makes it one of the most beautiful jewels of Armagnac.
This product of France was distilled and casked November 2005 and was bottled by Chateau Garreau in November, 2021. There was no colour added and no chill filtration.

PEAT REEK RAW CASK FINISHED IN RECHARRED CASK
Blackadder's Peat Reek, Recharred Finish, is an exclusive 10 year old single malt scotch whisky. This exclusive USA release is a Glass Revolution Dram Hunter selection, with only 340 bottles available.
Peat Reek is the smell of burning peat, the flavours of which are imparted to malting barley as it is slowly dried while the smoky reek of the peat is drawn over it. For Blackadder Peat Reek, we select only casks of whisky produced using malted barley that has been heavily impregnated with the phenols and creosols of a gently-smouldering peat fire. On the front label, you will see that this offering has an official analysis of 21.2 PPM -which lets you know just how peaty your dram is!
Peat Reek Embers are specially-selected casks from our already well-known Peat Reek portfolio. These are casks that we feel stand out from amongst a selection of which we are already very proud. This in no way means we think they are better than others in the Peat Reek selection. All have the heavily-peated quality that is a hallmark of Peat Reek, but some of the Embers range have been given cask finishes selected to help further complement the whisky. As with the burning embers of a fire, the finish lingers long after the last sip.

Ledaig is the heavily peated version of Tobermory's single malt. It offers a more pronounced smoky and earthy flavor profile. Oak puncheons are larger oak casks or barrels with greater capacity than traditional whisky barrels. The larger size and reduced wood contact can result in a slower aging process and milder wood influence. This can lead to a whisky with a softer, more subtle oak character. Situated on the Isle of Mull, Tobermory is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including mountains, sea, and lush landscapes. The distillery uses local water sources and traditional methods in its whisky production, emphasizing the use of natural ingredients.

The North British Distillery specializes in the production of grain whisky. Unlike malt whisky, which is made from malted barley and distilled in pot stills, grain whisky is typically made from grains like wheat or maize and distilled in continuous column stills. North British is situated at the west end of Edinburgh, near the Union Canal. Its location is relatively unique as many distilleries in Scotland are located in more rural areas. Often used in blends, this bottle is truly unique as it is a single-grain release drawn at cask strength with no added color or flavor.

In 1846, Hector Henderson chose a remote and beautiful site to build his distillery, on the shores of the Sound of Islay overlooking the Paps of Jura. The barley used today is malted locally at Port Ellen and pure spring water rises from limestone in nearby Loch nam Burn, then falls to the sea at Caol Ila.
